Felt 4 Life

Now that I am finished with my fiber arts certificate, I am finally getting busy in the studio working on new stuff.  It's been fun to want to get out into the studio every day and get to work.  This face is in progress.  I think it is going to be part of a wall hanging, but just getting started with it so I am not sure yet.  But I am pretty sure I am going to be making a whole lot of faces in my next series.

Felt is cool.

Growing in Leaps and Bounds

Yay, I have a new camera!  I had a little bit of a scare when UPS said they delivered it and I had not received it.  Turns out they delivered it to a very kind neighbor that brought it over to me.  Don't they have things called maps (digital or hard copy: Thomas Guide anyone?) to look at?  Anyways, camera is in my hot little hands but it may be a while before I order something so expensive again from Amazon.  For those who are interested, it's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8 and I absolutely love it.  Review to come later.

So, Oskar our Cardigan Corgi is nearly 4 1/2 months old and growing like crazy.  He currently weighs 18 pounds but may get up to as high as 40.  (!) He's going to be short and stocky,

We're walking him about an hour a day, plus playing and running around in the yard, of course, but I seriously think this guy is going to need closer to 2 hours of exercise a day.  He is like the energizer bunny.
Heading out to puppy class tonight.  After this class we only have one more before class is over.  Then we take a month break or so and then start official obedience training.  My goodness, we are going to be busy!

Farmers' Market and Camera Troubles

Went extra early to the farmers' market today to take Oskar so that he could meet other people and dogs without being overwhelmed by the masses that show up later on in the morning.  I am having a little dinner party tonight and decided I needed flowers.  I bought one giant bunch and split it up and added in that gigantic rose from our garden.  Can you believe how big that thing is?  I also bought a flat of strawberries and some ground coffee from our favorite local roaster, Valhalla
All three of these shots were taken with my camera phone because, alas, my nice SLR camera seems to be dying.  Something has been wrong with the shutter button for a while and I have been in avoidance of fixing it.  I know it will be expensive.  That's why, sadly, I have been missing out on posting so many wonderful things in the last month: no working camera.
But it's all about to be all good because I just ordered a new Panasonic Lumix and it is supposed to arrive Monday and I will be a snap happy blogger once again!  Bonus: it is also about 1/3rd the size of my bulky Nikon and will fit nicely in my purse for taking more shots at restaurants and other outings.  (I hate being one of those obvious people dragging around a giant camera.  For some reason that really bugs me, especially in restaurants.)  And some day I might get around to taking the old Nikon to a repair shop to try and fix it as well to keep using it in studio shots.   Huzzah!

Playing with Video and Puppies

My first playing around with video which basically means no editing!  But I am learning.

Oskar goes nuts over the laser pointer but here he had just gotten up from a nap and was a little groggy so it's a little light on the drama!  But I really wanted to capture how cute he is with only one ear up!  I can't believe he turns 4 months old this Saturday.  We have been taking puppy classes and working on all sorts of things like walking on a leash, sitting, laying down, coming when called.  Sometimes I think we will never be able to teach him all there is to learn.
